tooth的复数
1、含man的名词，一般变man为men。
woman→ women policeman→ policemen
Englishman→ Englishmen 但German→ Germans（德国人）
2、将oo改为ee的有 foot→ feet, tooth→ teeth, goose→ geese等。
3、复数以en结尾的有child→ children, ox→ oxen（公牛）等。
4、将ouse改为ice的有mouse→ mice（老鼠）, louse→ lice(虱子)等。
巧记：男女脚步牙鹅，老鼠加虱婆
man—men; woman-women; foot-feet;tooth-teeth; goose-geese;
mouse-mice; louse-lice
5、单复数同形的有fish鱼，deer鹿，sheep绵羊，works工厂，means手段，Swiss瑞士人, species物种，series系列等。
6、“某国人”的复数有三种类型：
（1）Chinese, Japanese, Swiss 三国人单数复数同形,不需加s；
（2）Englishman, Frenchman, Dutchman复数要把 man 变为men；
（3）其他各国人以–an,-ian 收尾的均直接加s.如：Americans,Australians, Indians等.
7、 集体名词，以单数形式出现，但实为复数。
例如：people人， police警察， cattle牛等本身就是复数，不能说 a people，a police，acattle，但可以说 a person，apoliceman，a head of cattle
8、只有复数形式的名词
trousers裤子, pants裤子, shorts短裤 glasses眼镜,
compasses圆规, scales天平, pliers钳子, clips剪子
9、以s结尾，仍为单数的名词
1）. maths数学，politics政治（学），physics物理学等学科名词，是单数。
2）. news消息、新闻，为不可数名词。
3）. the United States美国，the United Nations联合国，应视为单数。
The United Nations was organized in1945. 联合国是1945年组建起来的。
4）. 以复数形式出现的书名，剧名，报纸，杂志名，也视为单数。
‘The Arabian Nights’ is a veryinteresting story-book.
<一千零一夜>>是一本非常有趣的故事书。
10、还有一些名词，其复数形式有时可表示特别意思，如：
goods货物，waters水域，fishes（各种）鱼works工厂，作品
11、有些集体名词本身既表示单数意义又表示复数意义。当这些名词指代一个单位、机构或被看成一个整体时，作单数形式理解；如果表示这个群体的所有成员，通常被看作复数。常用的这类词有：
class 班级；team 队（员）；family 家庭/人；government 政府； group 组（员）
The family is not large. 这个家庭不大。（指家庭这个整体）
The family are all music lovers. 这一家人都是音乐爱好者。（指家庭中的成员）
Almost all families in this villagehave taken part in the program. （指多个 家庭） 在这个村庄几乎所有家庭都参加了这个节目。
12、不可数名词“量”的表示方法
1）用much, a little, a lot of/lots of, some,any等表示多少。如：
The rich man has a lot of money．那个富人有很多钱。
There is some milk in the bottle．瓶子里有一些牛奶。
Is there any waterin the glass？杯子里有一些水吗？
I don’t like winter because there’s toomuch snow and ice．
我不喜欢冬天，因为有太多的冰和雪。
2）用a piece of 这类定语修饰不可数数名词。如
a piece of paper ; a piece of wood; apiece of bread，
a bottle of orange ; a glass of water（milk）; a cup of tea
如果要表示“两杯茶”、“四张纸”这类概念时，在容器后加复数。如
two cups of tea; four pieces of paper;
three glasses of water; three bags of rice
3） 表示由两部分构成的东西，如：glasses(眼镜) trousers, clothes 若表达具体数目，要借助数量词 pair(对，双); suit(套);如
a pair of glasses; two pairs of trousers
